‘Hot Girl Summer…’ Meet Your Cousin, The ‘Hot Girl Walk’

Have you been needing a confidence boost but you don’t know where to start? Have you been lost in a sea of ‘HOW TO BE A BETTER VERSION OF YOU’ tutorials that are 150-step morning routines?

It’s no secret that a little positivity can go a long way. Most of us have tried our hand at daily affirmations, sticky notes on the bathroom mirror, journaling our manifestations, and other forms of being our own hype person.

But for many of us, myself included, the hardest part about any mental health practice is keeping it simple.

Let me introduce you to the viral TikTok self-care ✨HOT GIRL WALK ✨

Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Who’s The Hottest Girl Walking Of Them All…

That’s right! This exists and it’s the best rebrand since mayonnaise became aioli.

The trendy walk, coined the “Hot Girl Walk” by TikToker Mia Lind, is not exactly what it sounds like.

Its focus is not on achieving anything physical nor is it on becoming a hot girl, but rather on entering a positive mental state that allows you to celebrate how much of a hot girl you already are.

The walk doesn’t just come from nowhere though. Way back in the major lockdown eras of 2020-2021, which feels like 400 years ago, mental health professionals were encouraging us to go on daily walks so as to not go, well, fully bananas.

The internet started calling this your “silly little walk for your silly little mental health.”

Now, walking has truly reached new heights with its rebrand as the “Hot Girl Walk.”

What is the “Hot Girl Walk?”

What makes the Hot Girl Walk so special is how simple it is!

The rules, which Mia explains in her video, are easy breezy. You go on a walk every day where you can think of only the following three things:

  • What you’re grateful for
  • How hot you are
  • Your goals and how you’ll achieve them

Sounds pretty great! Even just saying to myself “I am hot and I will now be a hot person going for a hot walk” makes me immediately want to strut through the world like a badass with a hefty 401K.

And, with its simplicity also comes its customization.

Mia’s personal Hot Girl Walk is always four miles long and she listens to a playlist of feel-good songs or a positive mindset podcast. Other people go for their Hot Girl Walks with a buddy.

Sabrina Sablosky and Ceara Kirkpatrick each have slight variations on the walk, with a similar goal of making time and space for this act of self-care.

Moral of the story— stick to hot girl walks

At the end of the day, the parameters of your walk are up to you. You can measure it in a certain amount of time or distance.

As long as you’re going on a walk and hyping yourself up the entire time. You’re getting it right!

I Tried TikTok’s Hot Girl Walk (And This Is What Happened)

Personally, I’m a fan. I tried it myself and loved that, while it is ultimately another self-care tool, it’s active self-care. You’re on the move! And, as a girl who’s addicted to – I mean, who likes being busy, this active version of self-care is my new personality.

It was also a great challenge to be unapologetically kind and loving to myself.

But at the end of the day, the truest lesson of all? Is that we are ALL hot girls.

We must protect our inner hot girls at all costs. And remember to wear sunscreen on our walks, too.
